[Class 29.] In a refrigerator through which cold brine is showered over the articles to be cooled, the perforated trays 3 on which the articles are supported are provided with raised overflow openings 10 so that a substantial quantity of brine is retained on the trays to contact with the lower sides of the articles. Deflectors 12, 12<1> may be located below the overflow openings, or the openings may be located out of alignment from tray to tray. Preferably the articles are supported by bosses 13 above the surfaces of the trays. The brine is delivered by a pipe 7 and led away by a pipe 8, and the compartments are provided with separate hinged doors secured by bolts and wing nuts.
