Abstract

Coated aggregate for road-making &c. is prepared by applying to the aggregate a first coating of bitumen or heavy bituminous compound, a second coating of thinned or cut back bitumen, and a third coating of oil which may be for instance crude petroleum oil, tar oil, resin oil, linseed oil, chinawood oil, or mineral oil containing a small amount of dissolved bitumen. The three coatings may be applied successively in a mixer, e.g. as described in Specification 193,440, [Class 86, Mixing &c.]. Specifications 266,420 and 308,627, [both in Class 22, Cements &c.], also are referred to.
