Abstract

363,464. Printing-surfaces. BALDWIN, G. T., 43, Ingram Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. Oct. 31, 1930, No. 32850. [Class 100 (ii).] In printing- cylinders of the kind comprising two or more longitudinal segments over which one or more design sheets are tensioned by means holding the ends of the design sheets between the segments, strips of packing material are provided at the joints or gaps to prevent penetration of ink between the adjacent ends of the design sheets. In the arrangement shown, two design sheets 3, 4 are secured on segments 1, 2 by tensioning devices 5 .. 8, and strips 13, 14 of packing material are provided on the design sheets at the gaps. The packing material may be of soft metal, such as lead, compressed vegetable or animal fibres, such as cotton, wool, jute, sisal, hemp, or flax, leather from animal hides, fish skins, or reptile skins, artificial leather, artificial silk, wood pulp, insoluble gelatine, or plastic material such as that known under the Trade Mark " Plasticine."
