Abstract
360,920. Wireless receiving apparatus. HABANN, E., 44, Stargarderstrasse, Berlin. Aug. 13, 1930, No. 24261. Convention date, Aug. 15, 1929. [Class 40 (v).] A negative resistance comprising a contact substance and a loose point contact therewith utilizes as a contact substance a mixture of electrically conducting compounds of the same chemical nature which are not decomposed by the passage of current. The substance preferably comprises a mixture of lead sulphide and cuprous sulphide or sulphide of silver, copper, bismuth, cadmium, mercury, or zinc or arsenic trisulphide in the proportion of 1 mol. of lead sulphide to À5-À025 mols. of the other sulphides. Alternatively oxides may be used instead of sulphides. The constituents are preferably reduced to very fine powder, intimately mixed and pressed into a coherent mass, but may be sintered or fused together. The contact wire is preferably of molybdenum or iron of .2 millimetres diameter. The contact point may be immersed in oil or benzol and may be surrounded by a medium at a pressure greater than atmospheric.
