Abstract
360,564. Suspending cables. STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd., 56, Victoria Street, London, and LOWN, C. R., 9, Lower Lickhill Road, Stourport, Worcestershire. Sept. 11, 1930, No. 27169. [Class 36.] A clamp for supporting overhead cables comprises upper and lower clamp members a, b, grooved to receive a cable c and detachably held together by bolts h which pass through lugs a<2>, b<2> on the clamp members. The upper member a is formed with trunnions d<1>, d<2> provided with split pins k and washers k<2> and attached to links e<1>, e<2> which are carried by a pin e<3> adapted to pass into a hole in a clamp supporting member. The pin e3 is provided with a split pin k<1> and a washer k<2>. To prevent the bolts h turning while lock nuts h<1> are secured to the lower bolt ends parallel recesses a3 in the upper surface of the member a receive the bolt heads. To facilitate insertion of the cable in the clamp grooves, the member b is adapted to turn downwards to the position shown in Fig. 4, the bolt holes h<2> on one side of the members a, b being formed as slots elongated laterally. Longer bolts h<3> may be used temporarily in the slotted holes h<2>, to be replaced by short bolts h when the cable is in position.
