Abstract
359,664. Welding or brazing metal structures. STEVENSON, A., 60, Newhaven Road, Leith, Midlothian. Sept. 25, 1930, No. 28654. [Class 83 (iv).] Uniting by fusion; brazed joints.-M e t a l structures are stayed by distance pieces each formed with a shoulder near one or both ends, either or both of which ends are of truncated form and are brazed or welded in a corresponding inverted hole or holes in the plate or plates. The stay A is formed on one side with a shoulder B and a truncated conical end E welded by metal G in a countersunk hole in the plate D. The other end of the stay may be directly welded to the plate C or in a similar manner to the lower end. In modifications of the first form the wall of the stay may taper from the shoulder to the upper end, or the upper end may be tapered. In a further form, Fig. 4, the shoulder B may be enlarged.
