Abstract

359,404. Cups and saucers. FAWCETT, T. C., Tuthill, Haswell, Co. Durham. July 15, 1930, No. 21422. [Class 128.] In a cup and saucer set, the cup has formed around it, above its foot, a ring B which is undercut so that any spilled liquid is prevented from flowing down on to the lower portion of the cup. The foot of the cup is adapted to rest on the raised middle portion E of the saucer and the ring B is of greater diameter than the raised portion E. Preferably the drip ring B is arranged near the greatest diameter of the cup and is continuous all around the cup. The saucer has an annular trough F which is adapted to receive any liquid falling from the drip ring B. The cup may also be provided with internal horizontal corrugations G which serve to damp any oscillations of the liquid in the cup.
