Abstract

In the recovery of arsenic-sulphur compounds from vapours containing them, the vapours are diluted, prior to condensation, with so much inert gas that the condensate will be obtained wholly in the solid state. Cooled non-condensable gases obtained during the condensing step, may be used as the diluent, preferably at such a temperature that the temperature of the resulting gaseous mixture is below the dew point of the arsenic-sulphur compounds contained therein. The powder obtained on condensation may be remelted out of contact with air to decompose any arsenious oxide present. An illustrative example is furnished.
