Abstract
358,594. Covering heels of boots and shoes. UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CORPORATION, Paterson, New Jersey, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Nutt, W. H. ; Beverly, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) July 15, 1930, No. 21356. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1929. [Class 17 (ii).] Grooves 10 in heel blanks H to receive one or more marginal portions of covering material for the blank are made flexible or resilient to facilitate the tucking and holding of the material. This may be done by forming adjacent the groove and on one or both sides other parallel grooves 14, 16 which may also be utilized as gauges when trimming the edges of the covering material. The narrow strips 13 between the grooves 10, 14, 16 may be slit transversely, as a 15, to increase the flexibility. In an alternative form described, the grooves for receiving the edges of the covering material are formed in the breast face near the edges.
