Abstract

358,533. Drinking-vessels and saucers. RONEY, H. B., 15, Pershore Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. April 12, 1930, Nos. 11671 and 33281. [Class 128.] A tea-cup is formed with a circumferential undercut flange or rib 3 arranged so that overflowing liquid will fall directly from such flange into a saucer having a channel or gulley 7 near its outer edge; the central portion of the saucer and the base of the cup are thus kept dry. The saucer has a raised circular central portion recessed to receive the base of the cup, and, as shown, the cup and saucer are so shaped that the flange 3 rests on the circular rim 6 of the central portion and supports the base of the cup above the saucer. Alternatively the base of the cup may rest on the central portion 5 of the saucer. The flange 3 may be situated at any position between the rim and base of the cup and may have a sharp or rounded lower edge. The underside of the channel 7 may form the supporting base of the saucer.
