Abstract
358,263. Drying and airing clothes &c. CORTEEN, W. D., 46, Drayton Park, Highbury, London. Sept. 26, 1930, No. 28862. [Classes 34 (i) and 34 (ii).] Clothes &c. to be dried or aired are suspended in radial compartments 3 in a carrier rotated step by step on a vertical axis 5. A fan 10 at the top of the casing, driven by a motor 11, draws air upwardly through an axial chamber 2, containing a steam heater 6, the current then being deflected by a dome having branches 13 directing the air downwardly through all the compartments excepting the one opposite the loading and unloading doorway 14. Lips 16 may be formed on the air apertures 15 whereby the downward currents may be utilized to rotate the carrier, which is arrested by manually controlled stops. The garments are suspended by clips on hinged supports 17 which may be swung out through the doorway 14. The steam coil 6 may be cleaned by an automatically operating brush.
