Abstract
A method of carrying out the refining process described in Specification 357,539, wherein iodine vapour is passed through the molten metal or alloy, comprises inserting a cartridge or casing containing the refining material into the molten metal or alloy. The cartridge may be of any suitable material such as cardboard, iron, aluminium or synthetic resin and in one method it is attached to the end of a rod which is inserted in the metal.
