356,981. Photographic roll films. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Oct. 23, 1930, No. 31890. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1929. [Class 98 (i).] The paper strips which are attached to the ends of a roll-film in lieu of a backing strip to protect the film against entry of light consist of one or several layers of coloured parchmentized paper, which may be mechanically glazed or coated in known manner with wax to reduce friction in the camera during winding. The paper may be sized or unsized, and may be parchmentized by a short immersion in strong sulphuric acid and washing quickly. Black and red paper strips may be united by parchmentizing, or after parchmentizing but before drying. Reference is made to protective paper strips coated with gelatine or a cellulose derivative, and strips comprising two layers united by adhesive.
