Abstract
<PICT:0356534/III/1> <PICT:0356534/III/2> The invention relates to the removal of strata of adsorption media e.g. for regeneration, from adsorption apparatus, and consists in introducing a liquid or gaseous flushing medium into the lower part of the vessel to flush the marginal portions of the charge towards the outlet. A stratum of uniform thickness is thus removed. Fig. 1 shows an adsorption chamber A provided with a central outlet F and a ring of nozzles J through which the flushing medium is introduced. In another modification, Fig. 4, the adsorbent is supported on concentric rings G1, which may be in one plane, or in different planes as shown. The rings may either be flat or of inverted V cross section.
