Abstract

356,015. Automatic-feed weighers. LERNER, F., 28, B³rgerspitalgasse, Vienna. Oct. 21, 1930, No. 31604. Convention date, July 29. [Class 143.] In an automatic weighing machine wherein two weighing receptacles are alternately filled through a distributing shoot and the balance beam, after reaching its position of equilibrium, is tilted by means of a running weight, the distributing shoot is reversed by means of electromagnets energized by the tilting of the balance beam. The material flows on to a distributing shoot 18 pivoted loosely, upon a shaft 15 and passes into a scale pan 21 carried by a weighbeam which is constituted by two parallel tubes 1 each containing a ball 20. When the weighbeam tilts under the added impetus of the rolling balls 20, a fork 7, 8 closes two spring contacts 12 and thereby energizes an electromagnet secured adjacent the end of the shaft 15. A soft iron plate secured to the shaft is attracted into line with the electromagnet and imparts a rotation to the shaft. A frame 17 secured to the shaft rocks therewith and first closes the end of the shoot 18 and then rocks the shoot so as to lie upon a stop 10 and feed the material into a scale pan (not shown) at the other end of the weighbeam. During the rotation, a crank pin 24 carried by the shaft 15 rocks the spring contacts 12 into a position clear of the fork 7, 8 and thereby opens the circuit of the electromagnet, the cycle of operations being repeated in the opposite direction. A partition may be fitted in the middle of each tube 1 and a ball provided at each side thereof.
