360,514. Weighing-apparatus. BAYART, G. R. and SOC. ANON. DES ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS P. MOBIVAL, Quai du Halage, La Madeleine, France. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24480. [Class 143.] Counting by weighing.-An automatic weighing and counting scale is characterized in that the mechanism includes two cylindrical cam members 22, 23 secured to the pivot of a pendulous arm 15, one of the cam members being connected through a flexible ribbon 24 to one end of a pivoted reduction lever 6 submitted to the action of the load and the other cam member being connected by means of a flexible ribbon 27 to a lever 30 carrying a mass 33 for balancing the oscillating system in the unloaded condition. As shown, the articles to be counted are placed in a pan 1 and a predetermined number of the articles is placed in a pan 18 suspended from the end of the pendulous arm 15. The pendulous arm rotates until a balance is effected by the pendulum action of the load in the pan 18. A pointer 34, rigid with the arm, then indicates, on one of a number of scales on the chart 36, the number of articles in the pan 1, the scale selected on the chart depending on the number of articles in the pan 18. In ascertaining the weight of a mass placed in the pan 1, a known weight is placed in the pan 18, and the weight of the mass in the pan 1 may then be read off on the appropriate scale on the chart. The pendulous arm 15 is balanced by adjustable weights 20, 21.
