355,806. Woven wire fabrics. BANNING, E., 140, South Dearborn Street, Chicago, U.S.A. May 29, 1930, No. 16599. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1929. Drawings to Specification. [Class 142 (iv).] An electrode for an electrostatic sound reproducer or transmitter is formed as a woven metal cloth or screen: The material used for this screen may be ordinary tinsel cloth of commerce of either straight tinsel or crinkled tinsel lame variety, i.e. a metal fabric material wherein fabric threads in one direction are alternately crossed by woven and crimped or irregular crinkled strands of narrow and thin metal ribbons, and preferably provided with linen instead of cotton supporting threads. Alternatively, the electrode may be in the form of a finely woven metal screen prepared preferably from soft copper wires either plainly meshed or in dutchweave type, i.e. a type of weaving wherein the lengthwise or crosswise metal threads or wires, for example, are not all the same thickness but are grouped in orderly fashion, partly from heavier material alternated with lighter material.
