Abstract

355,452. Lenses. LEE. H. W. and KAPELLA, Ltd., 104, Stoughton Street, Leicester. July 12, 1930, Nos. 21149/30 and 8424/31. [Class 97 (i).] Relates to a photographic &c. lens system of the kind comprising a compound collective member B and a compound dispersive member A on the longer conjugate side of the collective member at a considerable distance therefrom, the dispersive member consisting of two elements I, II, one collective and the other dispersive, the dispersive element being between the collective element and the collective member. According to the invention the collective and dispersive members are jointly corrected for distortion, and the members may be so corrected severally. Freedom from distortion in the dispersive member is obtained by constructing this member so that the algebraic sum of the powers of the adjacent surfaces is positive. Numerical data are given for the form shown, having an aperture of f/2 in which the elements I, II are separated by an airspace III in the shape of a dispersive lens, and for another form in which these elements have a common contact surface. The collective member B is of the kind described in Specification 157,040, [Class 97 (i), Optical systems &c.], and is separately corrected for distortion.
