Abstract
355,162. Hand tools for cutting turf. PAUL, W., 41, Causeyside Street, Paisley, Renfrewshire. Dec. 29, 1930, No. 39008. [Class 6 (ii).] In turf-cutting implements comprising tubular cutting tools 1 mounted in a common holder 2, each tool 1, at the end remote from its cutting edge 3, is formed with a circumferential groove 4 adapted for co-operation with counterpart ribs 4a in a socket 5 defined by parts 2<1>, 2<2> of a holder. The parts 21, 22 are united by a bolt 6, and the upper part 2<1> is provided with an opening 7, to receive the foot of an operator, and with a socket 8 for a handle-carrying shank. Each tool 1 converges towards its lower end, and is formed with an elongated lateral opening 9 through which cut turf is ejected.
