Abstract
355,132. Grinding. CAPDET, H., 127, AllÚe St-Agne, Toulouse, Haute Garonne, France. Nov. 12, 1930, No. 34128. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1929. Addition to 328,284, [Class 83 (iii), Metals, Cutting]. [Class 60.] Disc apparatus.-In cutting a sinusoidal camtrack in the guide cylinder of mechanism for converting rotary motion into reciprocating motion and vice versa, as described in the parent Specification, the opposite faces of the track are formed on separate cylinders. Each cylinder a is secured to a sleeve k which is slidably keyed on a driving shaft j. A gear h secured to the shaft j rotates two axially opposed pinions g, each of which carries an eccentric cam e rotatable between flat plates c, d, the former being secured to the sleeve k and the latter to the work a. A collar m on the shaft j supports the interior of the work during its rotation and reciprocation and an extension n on the shaft supports a sleeve o on the stationary cutter-head q. The latter comprises a casing carrying two axially opposed cutters p driven through bevel gears from a central shaft and having the same shape as the rollers with which the cam-track b is intended to engage. After cutting, the track may be trued by substituting grinding tools for the cutters p. The gear ratio of the gears h, g is equal to the number of reciprocations made by the work during one revolution.
