Abstract

Liquids are sterilized by bringing them into contact both with sterilizing gases, e.g. chlorine or ozone, and with oligodynamic substances, e.g. silver or copper. In one form, part only of the liquid is treated with the gas, and the same or a different part passed over the oligodynamic substance, and then mixed with the main stream. The combined treatment allows a smaller quantity of gas and a shorter time of oligodynamic treatment to be used than when only one of these methods is employed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 300,898, [Class 46, Filtering &c.], and 340,218.ALSO:Liquids are sterilized by bringing them into contact both with sterilizing gases, e.g. chlorine or ozone, and with oligodynamic substances e.g. silver or copper. In another form, gaseous chlorine is bubbled into the main stream. The combined treatment allows a smaller quanity of gas and a shorter time of oligodynamic treatment to be used than when only one of these methods is employed.
