[Class 69 (ii).] A liquid meter comprises two measuring chambers having pistons carrying racks meshing with a pinion 15, Fig. 2, on a shaft 17, a distributing valve 37, and indicating mechanism 23, 25 being operated from the shaft 17, and means being provided for locking the distributing valve in midposition when a predetermined quantity of liquid has been delivered. The valve 37 has a port 41 open to the meter inlet 55 and a long port 43 in the form of a channel open to the meter outlet 45. Its actuating means comprises members 73, 75 connected by a spring 77, and provided with a stop 79, Fig. 5, and cams 81, and a stop 83 and cam 85 respectively ; a quadrant 65 oscillated from the shaft 17 has a member 67 which through a rod 69 or 71 turns one member 73 or 75 while the other member is held by a pawl 87, the spring 77 being thus wound up. When the other member is freed by the disengagement of the pawl by the appropriate cam, it is turned by the spring and the rod 69 or 71 will actuate the valve by acting on its tail member 47. The means for locking the valve 37 comprises a lever 103 adapted to engage a notch when permitted by a cam 99 ; the cam is mounted on a shaft 93 having a setting knob 95 and a pointer 97 movable over a scale, and driven from the shaft 17 by a shaft 121, cam 119, and ratchet mechanism.
