Abstract

353,982. Filing-cabinets. ROBERTSON, C. KELMAN-, 54, Albany Street, Edinburgh. May 24, 1930, No. 16029. [Class 146 (i).] A filing-cabinet comprises a casing containing a skeleton framework of four corner posts 1, connected together by cross-pieces 2, 3, carrying an endless conveyer with suspended card trays or - boxes. The conveyer comprises a pair of endless chains 12, each of which passes over upper and lower guide-pulleys 13, 14; pivotally suspended between the chains 12, so as always to remain vertical, are trays or carriers 16, adapted to receive the usual card boxes 17, fitted with handles at the front. The trays or carriers consist of two inverted V-shaped sides 16b, having pivot pins 20 engaging the belts 12, while a flange 16c serves to keep the tray 17 in position. Further, a vertical channelshaped guide, engaged by a roller 26 carried -by a pin 25 on the carrier 16, is provided at the front of the casing on one side of the conveyer 12 to ensure steady movement of the carriers. A friction brake may be furnished, comprising two hinged jaws 27 held in frictional contact with a cylindrical boss 28 on the spindle 33 of one of the conveyer guide-pulleys by a spring 29, and adapted to release the boss when a pedal on the outside of the casing is depressed to actuate a cam 32, which forms the jaws apart. A door 4 is provided in the front of the casing for access to the cards.
