[Class 100 (ii).] Number-printing apparatus; counting-apparatus. - In a time-stamp, a unit for printing serial numbers enclosed in the casing containing the clockwork is advanced by connections comprising a lever pivoted within the casing and engaged by a push-rod extending through the cover of the casing and hinged to an external lever rocked at each descent of the plunger or platen. In the arrangement shown, a plunger 7 depressed by a handle 14 and returned by a spring 16 effects impression from fixed type 8, time-printing wheels 1, and numberprinting wheels 10 within the casing 5. The number-printing wheels 10 are advanced by a pawl 18 on a rocking frame 19 connected by a spring 20 to a lever 21 pivoted at 22 within the casing. A spring 25 maintains the lever 21 in contact, through a bearing block 23, with a push-rod 24 pivoted to a lever 29 connected by a link 28 to an arm 27 on the handle 14. An external counter 32 is correspondingly advanced through a connection 36 with the lever 29. To prevent more than one impression being taken for each actuation of the counter, a lock is provided comprising a pivoted latch 39 which, when the plunger descends, moves under the action of a spring 41a into position to engage a roller 38 on the plunger 7 and prevent its return movement, until the handle 14 has been raised far enough to actuate the counter, when a pin 43 on the handle trips the latch 39, and allows the plunger to ascend under the action of the spring 16. For adjusting the stroke of the plunger, the upper end of its stem is provided with a cap 44 containing a shouldered member 45 adjusted by a screw 46.
