Abstract

352,350. Ship machinery foundations. YARROW, H. E., Scotstoun, Glasgow. Oct. 21, 1930, No. 31572. Grant of Patent opposed. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114.] The propelling machinery of ships is supported on the main longitudinal girders through the intermediary of transverse joists or equivalent structural members. Low pressure cylinders A, A<1> and the condensers D, D<1> are supported by transverse joists E, E<1>, which are carried right across the longitudinal girders G, G<1>, H, H<1>, J to which they are bolted or otherwise secured. The starboard and port high-pressure cylinders are supported by shorter transverse joists F, K, extending between the longitudinal girders G, H, and joists F<1>, K<1> extending between the longitudinal girders G<1>, H<1> respectively. The main-gearing casings C, C<1> are supported on transverse joists L, L<1> and secured to the longitudinals H, H<1>, J and intermediate fore and aft members M, M<1>.
