Abstract
352,323. Metal tubes. BUNDY TUBING CO., 4815, Bellevue Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Quarnstrom, B. L.; 4802, Nottingham Road, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, U.S.A.) Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28358. Convention date, March 12. [Class 99 (ii).] A non-corrodible tube is made from flat strip stock, Fig. 9, of ferrous metal 1 which is provided on both sides first with a coating 2 of copper and then a coating 3 of solder. After the stock has been rolled to form the tube it is subjected to heat to sweat the parts together, additional solder being poured over the completed tube if desired. In a modification the coating of solder is applied to the tube after its formation. The edges of the stock may be copper coated or not, and they may be lap- or butt-jointed or interlocked in the finished tube. Figs. 11 and 12 show the invention applied to double-walled tubes made from a single strip and from two separate strips respectively.
