[Also in Group XXVIII] A thin-walled metal tube is made by forming at each edge 2 of a thin metal strip 1 and on one side of the strip only a series of spaced depressions 3, each with a spherical surface, and a corresponding series of projections on the opposite side of the strip, the two series of depressions being staggered with respect to one another, and by folding the strip transversely of its length to bring its edges into abutting relationship. The forming of the depressions may be effected during the transverse bending of the strip. The depressions are preferably in the outer surface of the tube, which tube may form the inner ply of soldered two-ply tubing. Specification 797,199 is referred to.
