Abstract
351,949. Electric signalling systems. CHAPMAN, H. H., 233, Dover Road, Folkestone, and GATES, W. H., 197, Folkestone Road, Dover, both in Kent. Jan. 29, 1930, No. 3048. [Class 40 (i).] An order telegraph for use on ships comprises two lamps P, P<1>, Fig. 6, preferably arranged to illuminate differently coloured screens, and adapted to be controlled by a switch, Fig. 2, comprising a pivoted hand-lever B carrying contacts which co-operate respectively with pairs of contacts D<1>, D<2> ; H<1>, H2. One or other of the lamps is lighted when the hand-lever is operated into engagement with the appropriate contact D<1>, D<2>, a gong G, Fig. 6, being operated over contact H<1> or H<2> during movement. The gong may be operated by a .manual push-button switch E mounted on the side of the transmitter switch casing, Fig. 8. The casing has a hinged cover provided with a member KO adapted to lock the hand-lever in the neutral or inoperative position. The arrangement is such that the cover cannot be closed unless the lever is in its neutral position.
