[Class 6 (iii).] In a machine for digging root crops, wherein tines pivotally suspended from a drive wheel and operatively connected with an eccentrically disposed control wheel are revolved with a pseudo-parallel motion in the rear of a soil-lifting share to extract the roots and deliver them transversely of the machine, the drive wheel is rotated about a forwardly-inclined axis whereby the tines in lifting from the soil are moved in a rearwardlyinclined direction. The tines comprise substantially vertical parts connected to the driving wheel and substantially horizontal parts directed and sloping slightly towards the delivery side of the machine. Supported on a carriage a and adjustably clamped thereto at d<1> is a sub-frame d carrying a share e and a bearing-member j, short shafts g<1> on which are pivotally supported in brackets f<1> on the main frame. A shaft k, on which is mounted the drive wheel l, is driven by bevel wheels k<1>, i, chain sprocket h, and chain from a chain wheel h<2> keyed to the main shaft c by a dog or other clutch. The wheel l carries bearing bushes l<1> for short crank shafts m with bosses m<1> carrying double-pronged tines n. The crank shafts m engage bearings o on the control disc o<1> which is rotatable about a stationary eccentric o<2> fixed to the member j and carries light fingers t to throw aside the top growth. The angular relation of the main frame to the draught pole q is controlled by a system of toggle links and a hand-lever s<1> which can be locked to a quadrant s<2> on the main frame.
