Abstract
351,481. Pneumatic separating. HILDEBRANDT, H., 4, Eichelkampstrasse, Wulfel, Hanover, Germany. March 22, 1930, No. 9251. [Classes 23 and 117.] In a device for grading pulverulent material of the type comprising a rotary wheel 2 with blades 1, Fig. 3, and in which the material is carried in a current of air flowing from the periphery of the wheel to its centre against the centrifugal force, the blades 1 are inclined towards the centre of the wheel in the direction of rotation. The blades may be flat or curved and may be mounted adjustably, and several of the devices may be arranged in series for multiple grading. In the embodiment described, the wheel 2 is mountedon a hub 7, Fig. 1, driven by a shaft 8, and discharges the fine material through the central lateral opening 4. The material may be fed into the casing at the upper end 17 or introduced with the air current at 18, the coarse elements being discharged at 15. Deflectors 21, 22 are provided above and below the wheel to prevent the direct passage of the material thereto. The passage of unseparated material to the opening 4 is prevented by packing rings 12, or vanes 13 in the space between the wheel 2 and the casing 5. The separator may be associated with a grinding mill. Reference ha.s been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 23456/10, [Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.].
