Abstract
350,815. Swash-plate linkages. CRANKLESS ENGINES, Ltd. and MICHELL, A. G. M., 499, Little Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia. Aug. 22, 1930, No. 25150. [Class 80 (iii).] The piston units of swashplate engines, especially of the kind described in Specification 118,098, [Class 80 (iii), Linkwork], are made from elongated members 10 of tubular steel stock. The heads are secured or welded to the bodies. The central part is recessed or cut away to receive the swash-plate. Longitudinal cuts X and transverse notches 12 are made, and a portion of the tubular member removed. The remainder is bent back and forms a longitudinal slot 13, Fig. 2. The end portions forming the pistons are closed by discs 15 in which are mounted spherical sockets 18 which carry pads 20 engaging the plate 22. Tail pins 25 on the pads engage the slots 13. In a modification, the middle portion of the tubular member is bent outwardly to form flanges 31, Fig. 6. A forged steel piece is inserted to close the ends of the pistons and engage the flanges, and carries the sockets for the slippers. The flanges 31 form bearings for guide slippers carried by the frame.
