Abstract
350,771. Regulating, liquid level. HOLDEN & BROOKE, Ltd. and JOSCELYNE, A. W. A., Sirius Works, West Gorton, Manchester. July 15, 1930, No 21399. [Class 123 (i).] In a system in which the varying level of liquid in a sealed container is used for the control of electrically-operated plant, e.g., in hydraulic systems where an automatically - operated booster pump is employed to deal with variations in demand, a vessel 1 is connected by passages 2, 3 to the liquid and compressed air' spaces respectively of a liquid storage reservoir in the system. A compartment 5 is in constant connection at 6 with a relay for starting an electric motor associated with the air compressor, and is provided with two valves 7, 8 interconnected by a rocker 9. The valves 7, 8 are operated simultaneously by a rod 10 connected to a float in the vessel 1. In the position shown, the relay is connected to atmosphere through the valve 7, but if the liquid level rises, the valve 8 is opened and valve 7 is closed, the relay is actuated. and the air compressor is started and runs until the liquid level falls to the required point. The operation is not dependent on the pressure in the system, and all moving parts are within the vessel 1.
