Abstract

1355496 Central heating systems WARMAC Ltd 20 Oct 1971 [4 Nov 1970] 52409/70 Heading F4U A pressurized liquid heating system comprises a heating circuit consisting of a boiler B and radiators L, connected to a low pressure container C by means of three conduits N, N 2 and N 3 extending into the low pressure container C and all merging into a common conduit N leading into the heating circuit. In conduit N 1 is fitted a transfer valve T and a modulating pressure controller PC, having an independent liquid or gas supply. Conduits N 2 and N 3 extend through the wall of the low pressure container C near the base thereof and in each is a pump P 1 , P 2 under the control of a pressure switch PS 1 , PS 2 and a delayed action switch D 1 , D 2 . The pressure switches are subject to the pressure in the heating circuit. In the conduits N 1 , N 2 between the pumps P 1 , P 2 and the low pressure container C are isolating valves IV 1 , IV 2 and at the other side of the pumps P 1 , P 2 are non-return valves NV 1 , NV 2 and isolating valves IV 3 , IV 4 . In operation, upon increase in pressure in the heating circuit, valve T opens and water flows into the tank C. Upon fall in pressure, the pumps are operated. On the pressure in the circuit being restored to the region of the pressure at which the valve connection T begins to open, at least one pump in the pump arrangement continues running on a fixed period delay cut-off. The control means may also be utilized in a cold water supply system, for example in high-rise flats.
