Abstract

<PICT:0350556/IV/1> <PICT:0350556/IV/2> In apparatus for the wet treatment of textiles, of the kind in which the textile material in the form of hanks, skeins, &c., is suspended over a tank of treating liquid by means of a hollow tubular support formed with an outlet opening or perforations through which the liquor delivered to the support by a pump is discharged against the hanks &c. suspended from the support, the support is maintained in a fixed position whilst a movable device is provided for changing the position of the hanks &c. relatively to the support. The supporting members 13, preferably formed with the outlet holes 20 in the upper surface, are supplied with liquor through the system 22, 21 by a pump 23. The hanks 12, put into position over the end 30, embrace also a member 26, which spaces the sides of the hank apart, being periodically revolved, about the centre of the supporting member as an axis, by the gear 34, 37, thus shifting the position of the hanks. The liquor emerging from the outlet opening or holes flows down the hank enveloping it in a film of liquor. Several alternative forms of supporting members are shown and described. In one form a slot, extending longitudinally of the member, may have its edges turned inwardly to form baffles, a number of other plates being positioned to divide the emerging liquor into a number of streams. Alternatively a perforated hollow tubular member may be contained within the slotted supporting member, the liquor being supplied to the tubular member. To increase the action of the liquor, supplementary spraying means may be employed consisting of a deflector plate 50, Fig. 7, which may be formed integrally with the member 53, which periodically rotates to shift the position of the hanks, the liquor emerging from the holes 48 being deflected outwardly against the sides of the hank.
