Abstract

350,288. Ventilating byres. NEIL, J., 6, Camphill Drive, Queens Park, Glas. gow. July 14, 1930, No. 21223. [Class 137.] A ventilator for a byre comprises a perforated air duct 1 preferably formed of tapered sections disposed along a longitudinal wall of the byre and supported by division walls 10 separating the stalls 2. Fresh air enters the duct through a valve-controlled opening in an end wall 6 of the byre and is admitted to the stalls through perforations 9 above the heads of the animals. The height of the duct may be adjusted by means of wooden blocks 12 placed between the division walls 10 and the lower bar 5 of the duct, the whole being held in position by brackets or clamps 11. To prevent the animals' horns from catching on the projecting undersurface of the duct a filling member 13 preferably a wooden block of triangular section may be fitted under the duct.
