Abstract

350,088. Control of D.C. motors. GUY, S. S., Delamere, Newbridge Avenue, Wolverhampton, and STEVENS, W. A., Castlemaine, London Road, Maidstone. March 22, 1930, No. 9186. [Class 38 (iii).] Regenerative braking.-During regeneration of a compound-wound vehicle motor 1 the series field 2 is automatically short-circuited by a contactor 73 controlled by a polarized relay 72 having series and shunt windings 70, 71 the winding 70 being located between the armature 1 and the series field 2. An auxiliary switch 74 is closed with the contactor 73 so as to energize contactors 16, 16‹ and thus keep the shunt field 3 energized at full strength even though the drum controller 21 is returned to its " off " position. A switch 75 is opened when the mechanical-brake pedal is depressed and causes opening of the contactor 73.
