Abstract

348,997. Glass manufacture. BRANCART, Y., Fauquez-lez-Virginal, Belgium. Oct. 16, 1930, No. 31037. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1929. [Class 56.] Rolling.-A process for producing a glass plate or thick sheet consists in rolling two or more sheets of glass of a reduced thickness, and then bringing these sheets together while hot and uniting them by rolling to form the final plate. This method of production is stated to minimize the formation of surface undulations in the finished plate. The process may be carried out by a machine comprising two sets of rollers a, b, which is sometimes used for the manufacture of wire glass. Molten glass is poured on to the rollers either by means of separate ladles g, or from a single kidney-shaped ladle h which delivers two streams of glass. The ladle is placed astride a partition c which divides the streams of glass flowing from the ladle.
