346,927. Glass manufacture. MISSISSIPPI GLASS CO., 220, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Begeman, M. L. ; 110, Ferry Street, St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A.) March 5, 1930, No. 7171. Convention date, May 21, 1929. [Class 56.] Rolling.-Apparatus for making sheet glass, particularly wire glass, comprises a pair of forming rolls 30, 32, furnace lips 16 from which molten glass pours on to the upper surfaces of each roll, and an adjustable gate 38 adjacent to each of the rolls whereby, as the rolls rotate, sheets of glass 36 are formed on the rolls and are carried to the pass between the rolls, where they are united to form a single sheet 44. Wire mesh 34 may be fed downwards between the rolls and become embedded in the finished sheet. By adjusting the position of the gates 38, a sheet of any desired thickness can be produced. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a construction in which a single furnace spout and adjustable gate is used. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
