Abstract

348,473. Emergency exits. HOLLAND, C. R., 7, Melbourne Street, Burslem. Stoke-on-Trent. July 31, 1930, No. 23069, [Class 44.] Emergency exit doors are normally held closed by bolts e entering sockets d on the doors. The bolts e are formed on the end of a plate g, pivoted at h, which carries a resilient pad p on a number of studs k which pass through a fixed floor-support e. When a person steps on the pad p it is depressed to the dotted line position flush with the floor, and the plate g is pressed down, against the pressure of a spring s, to withdraw the bolts e and allow the doors to be swung open by springs. The plate g is held down by a spring catch u, which may be pressed back by a suitable tool to allow the plate to rise to its normal position under the action of the spring s.
