Abstract

348,469. Hats. HULME, T. and CARRINGTON & SONS, Ltd., S. R., Cale Green Hat Works, Stockport, Lancashire. July 24, 1930, No. 22293. [Class 63.] A felt hat is provided with a brim of substantially the shape shown in Fig. 6 by hand shaping over a sectional brim frame 4, Fig.. 4, whilst the hat is on a crown block 2 and during steaming. A hood is positioned on the block 2 and the extending portion bulged by hand. The sectional brim frame 4 is then positioned and the bulged portion shaped by hand over the frame and its edge tied round the crown. The steaming is then concluded and the whole left to cool. The block is then removed and the crown turned inside out to allow the removal of the sectional frame 4. The crown is then pushed back to its initial position, the block replaced, and the edge portion of the brim turned inwardly, as shown. The brim may be dented or flattened at one or more places.
