Abstract
348,084. Pistons. JUNKERS, H., 21, Kaiserplatz, Dessau, Anhalt, Germany. Oct. 28, 1929, No. 32697. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1928. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 122 (i).] In a piston of the type in which the head is cooled by the movement of liquid in a closed chamber, the chamber is formed in a head 2 of steel or other hard material, which is secured to a body 1 of aluminium or the like. The head comprises a shell closed by a screwed-in cover 3, which is made tight by a welded or soldered joint 5. The crown is supported by a conical member 10, which abuts on the cover 3, and is formed with perforations 11<1>, 11<11>. The perforations may be in the form of nozzles which facilitate circulation in the direction of the arrows. The head and body engage by peripheral surfaces 6 and are centred by a spigot 8 and secured together by a nut 7. Liquid is inserted in the head through an opening closed by a screw plug 9.
