Abstract
347,591. Cleats. STEWART, J. E., 14A, Eton Road, Hampstead, NORTON, R. T., 10A, Anderson Street, Sloane Square, and BULLERS, Ltd., 6, Laurence Pountney Hill, all in London. Jan. 21, 1930, No. 2122. [Class 109.] Cylindrical insulator bodies 1 are supported in sockets 8 in a spider 9 and are each formed with a throughway 2. At one end of each body 1 is provided an external circumferential groove 3. The throughway 2 at the other end of the body 1 is formed with a bell mouth 4. The end face of each body 1 has a cut-away portion 6 adjacent the groove 3 so that the bottom 7 of the portion 6 is in the plane of the inner edge of the circumferential groove. In a modified construction the throughway extends at right-angles to the circumferential groove, an auxiliary groove linking the throughway and the circumferential groove. The edges of both ends of the throughway may be rounded off. In a further modification the plane of the circumferential groove passes through or below the throughway. The throughway may be in the form of an open slot, or there may be two throughways, one of which is a bore and the other an open slot. To attach a cable to the insulator, a bight formed in the wire is threaded through the throughway and looped in the external groove of the insulator.
