Convention date, July 15, 1929. Drawings to Specification. [Class 140.] A floor covering with a tiled or ornamental effect consists of a felt base coated with an adhesive layer of oil paint or synthetic-resin composition on which is attached spaced overlays of linoleum mix, the coating being exposed at the intermediate spaces. The material may be pressed between a roller and a rubber blanket whereby tapering of the edges of the applied material is produced. A suitable synthetic resin composition consists of a solution in ethylene or di-ethylene glycol ethers such as monomethyl or monoethyl ether of ethylene glycol or in ethylene dichloride, to which fillers or pigments may be added, of the resin formed by heating together ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, glycerine, phthalic anhydride, and fatty acids from linseed, chinawood or other drying oil. The felt base may be saturated with bitumen or coated twith casein. The product may be given a final coating of clear lacquer or wax.
