Abstract
347,484. Drying-chambers. RACKEBRANDT, H., 4, Schwalenbergerstrasse, Linden, Hanover, Germany. April 29, 1930, No. 13173. Convention date, April 30, 1929. [Class 34 (ii).] A non-distorting door for drying chambers subject to different temperatures on the inside and outside has the inner face built up of overlapping plates each secured to a frame at its centre of gravity only. The frame comprises Channel bars 2, 10 and horizontal angle-bars 9 supporting a metal sheet 11 on the inner face of which is provided an insulating layer 12 subdivided into sections by partitions 13 secured to the sheet 11. The inner shell 14 consists of overlapping plates 17 each supported at its centre of gravity by a bolt 18 secured to the angle-bars 9. The bolts are separated from the insulation 12 by sleeves 19. The plates are bevelled at 21 where they overlap and may be of square, circular or hexagonal form. To prevent lifting of the plates a safety-bolt 22 is provided outside the centre of gravity. To allow for expansion of the bars 2 they are recessed or notched as shown at 26, or divided and jointed by a fishplate fixed to one part and engaging the other part by slots.
