[Class 52 (iii).] An extending table comprises a central leaf B pivotally mounted at P, Fig. 1, in a slide S, and fitted with two .end leaves B<1>, B<2>, Fig. 4. All the leaves are substantially equal in area, and the end leaves can be, folded over the centre leaf, the leaf B<2> folding over the leaf B<1>, to make a small table of the same size as the underframe F. The rotary movements of the centre leaf B are limited by a stop C, which in the position shown in Fig. 1, abuts against the frame F; when it is rotated through a right-angle, it passes under a flat spring member A, which retains it until the spring is pressed clear of it. The leaves B, B<1>, B<2> are connected by hinges, shown in Fig, 7, each consisting of two parts H connected by a central part H<2> or H<3>, the part H<2> being made long enough to enable the leaf B<2> to be folded over the leaf B<1>. The inner edge of the leaf B<2> is extended a little inwards of the hinge bar H<2> so as to close the gap which otherwise would be left between the edges of the leaves B<1>, B<2>. The table, at its smallest size, presents a polished surface upwards; other leaf surfaces are unpolished. Sliding members M, M<1> may be fitted to provide additional support to the leaves B<1>, B<2> when fully extended.
