Abstract

347,286. Drying presses. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(National Laundry Machinery Co., Inc. ; Warren Street, Syracuse, New York, U.S.A.) Jan. 27, 1930, No. 2805. [Class 34 (ii).] An exhauster 26 is provided to withdraw air from the perforated hollow buck 18 of an ironing press and pass it through a heater 30 back to the perforated hollow head 14 whereby a continuous circulation of heated air is maintained to dry the articles being treated simultaneously with the ironing process. The buck and head are provided respectively with convex and concave surfaces which are of slightly different radii so that the articles on the buck are stretched when the head contacts therewith. The concave surface of the press head is covered with a layer of filtering material, such as muslin, over which is placed a polished sheet of perforated material such as nickelplated wire mesh. The press is operated from an electric motor through worm gearing 61 crank 57 and connecting-rod 53.
