Abstract
347,128. Cushions. HOLDER, W. E., 32, East Street, Manchester Square, London. Jan. 17, 1930, No. 1671. Drawings to Specification. [Class 52 (iv).] A therapeutic appliance, in the form of a pad or cushion, comprises one or more coils of resistance wire, producing thermal effects, and one or more coils of copper or other nonresistance wire, which produce electromagnetic effects, connected in series. Two resistance and one nonresistance coils may be attached to a backing or enclosed in or attached to a pad which may comprise two superposed pieces of blanket, felt, or other suitable material. The coils may be side by side, or the copper coil may be placed between the pieces of material and the resistance coils arranged one on either side and secured as by stitching. One resistance coil only may be attached to a backing and its inner end connected to one end of a non- resistance coil secured above the centre of the resistance coil. The pad may have an outer covering of suitable material. The current is supplied by a lead from a main supply, and a thermostat may be inserted in the resistance coils. The pad may be placed in a hollow in the spongy rubber or other stuffing of a cushion, pad, or seat. Specification 245,189, [Class 81 (ii), Medical &c. appliances], is referred to.
