Abstract

347,076. Ships' bows. HUBERTI, V., 40, Suarezstrasse, Charlottenburg, Berlin. July 29, 1930, No. 22802. Convention date, March 10, 1930. [Class 113 (ii).] In a hull construction designed to minimise the effects of collisions or grounding, the under-water part of the bows is recessed to accommodate a float 3, which is semi-permanently connected to the hull by springs 8 and a cover-plate 9. On collision or grounding taking place, the float tears away from the hull the shock of compact being taken up by the spring buffers 6. The float 3 is subsequently pressed away from the hull by screws 11 and rollers are inserted in the space between the hull and the float to enable the ship to run back into deeper water, the float 3 remaining attached to the obstacle by hooks 10.
