Abstract

346,092. Explosives. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, London.-(Winchester Repeating Arms Co. ; New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.) Feb. 11, 1930, No. 4616. [Class 9 (ii).] Whiterite, a natural form of cystalline barium carbonate, is used as an abrasive and stabilizer in a mercury fulminate priming composition leaving no corrosive residue. The composition contains mercury fulminate 35 to 50 per cent, basic lead nitrate 23 to 33 per cent, lead sulphocyanate 5 to 15 per cent, antimony sulphide 5 to 20 per cent, and Whiterite 5 to 10 per cent. Specification 348,008 is referred to for the use of a basic nitrate of a heavy metal in fulminate priming mixtures.
