495,238. Explosives. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. Dec. 7, 1937, No. 33885. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1936. [Class 9(ii)] A priming mixture for small arms ammunition containing an initiator, such as a fulminate or a styphnate, and in which the oxidizing agent consists of barium nitrate, lead nitrate, or the double nitrate of barium and potassium, is characterized by the addition of lead hypophosphite. According to typical examples given in the Specification, the mixture may consist of (1) mercury fulminate, potassium dinitrophenylazide, double salt of barium and potassium nitrate, antimony sulphide and lead hypophosphite ; (2) mercury fulminate, basic lead styphnate, barium nitrate, calcium silicide, antimony sulphide and lead hypophosphite, and (3) lead styphnate, lead nitrate, ground glass and lead hypophosphite.
